Therefore, when engaging with Story, you should be mentally prepared for potential returns that may not meet expectations or for the time investment required.

Although Story Protocol is a Layer 1 network focused on IP assets, it still requires a strong DeFi infrastructure to fully unlock the potential of these assets. Below are some projects you should keep an eye on:

• StoryHunt: The native DEX incubated directly by the Story Foundation.
• PIPERX: The first native DEX on the network, backed by Story Protocol. The platform is also developing DeFAI to enhance user experience.
• Verio: The leading Liquid Staking protocol with the highest TVL in the ecosystem.
• Unleash Protocol: Currently the number one lending platform on Story Protocol.

The DeFi ecosystem on Story Protocol is still in a very basic stage and lacks diversity. However, given the core focus on IP assets, this is not a major issue, and participating in these projects at this stage could offer opportunities for future airdrops.

The minimum capital I recommend preparing is around 40-50 IP tokens (approximately $220-280 at the time of writing). The following steps outline my DeFi strategy on Story:

1. Stake 20 IP tokens on Verio to receive 20 vIP. Then, restake 10 vIP into the NFT section under “Catalog” on Verio.
2. Use the remaining 10 vIP to add liquidity in the IP/vIP pool on either StoryHunt or PIPERX. Either DEX works fine.
3. Go to Unleash Protocol to lend IP tokens by selecting “supply” and providing 10-15 IP.
4. Reserve the remaining IP tokens for network fees (which are very low) and for conducting swaps to maintain a transaction history on the network.

None of these protocols have launched tokens yet, so the airdrop potential is quite high, especially given the current low activity on the network.

That said, from a broader ecosystem perspective, Story Protocol needs more money games to attract capital inflow. Currently, most funds are sitting idle in LST and Lending protocols rather than circulating actively within the network.

NFTs

NFTs on Story Protocol are not just standard digital assets like on other NFT networks; they are deeply integrated with DeFi through the Verio Protocol.

Some notable NFT collections include:

• Mimboku: One of the earliest NFT collections on Story Protocol, heavily supported by OGs. Co-founders of Verio and Aria use Mimboku as their profile pictures on X. Holding Mimboku grants additional staking rewards on Verio and potential airdrops/points from partner projects.
• Color’s Cat: The main NFT collection of Color NFT Marketplace. With a total supply of 1,075, the collection launched under the slogan: “No roadmap, No Utility, The cat is cute.” It remains uncertain what benefits it will provide, but as the flagship NFT of Story’s native marketplace, it holds potential.

Overall, Mimboku has been relatively successful in integrating with ecosystem projects and providing value to holders. Other collections like Globkins and PiPi have declined significantly post-listing and remain under development.

However, the NFT market on Story is still extremely limited in terms of supply, diversity, and trading volume. This suggests that NFTs on Story are not yet attractive to most users.

Mimboku itself had to reduce supply twice, from 10,000 to 5,000, and then down to just 2,800, despite initial strong backing from OGs and even the Foundation.

Real World Assets (RWA)

Beyond NFTs and DeFi, Story Protocol also includes other components to diversify its ecosystem, with RWA (Real World Assets) being a standout sector.

Aria Protocol is currently the leading RWA project on Story Protocol. It aims to tokenize IP assets from Web2 into Web3 for monetization. The project has already secured partnerships with Justin Bieber, BLACKPINK, BTS, Aespa, Maroon 5, Katy Perry, and is reportedly planning collaborations with BIGBANG, JISOO, and more.

The vision for Aria is to tokenize songs, allowing their associated tokens to represent ownership rights, revenue-sharing mechanisms, and DeFi utilities.

While there is no direct earning opportunity with Aria at the moment, monitoring its development is crucial, as it holds immense potential due to its partnerships with top-tier artists with massive fan bases. This ensures a higher likelihood of revenue-sharing success when their work is widely consumed.
